About Karl Lagerfeld, Adele, weight and important things

As we have said many times before, we usually do not take up gossips, private life discussions and things like that on this blog (unless it’s something about us that we want to share). But this post will be somewhat different. We want to take up the story that recently grabbed headlines of publications and blog posts all over the world. If you have a little idea of show-business and fashion, names like Karl Lagerfeld and Adele tell you everything. And, if you follow a bit with the international media, you have most probably heard the story of Karl Lagerfeld calling Adele ‘fat’. To quote him ‘She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.’ has been the phrase.

Well, it’s not just once we have expressed our love and biggest admiration for Karl Lagerfeld as a great designer, an icon in the world of style. And to name that, we have never been big Adele fans. But with all due respect, Mr. Lagerfeld, we thought it was  a taboo to call someone ’fat’, just as any other expressions of blind narrow-mindedness. To be on the side of the truth, we should also mention that Karl Lagerfeld is no fool, and he smartly realized that excusing his unfortunate remark is the best solution (if there is a solution to this situation) in given situation. His public apology opens with. ‘I’d like to say to Adele that I am your biggest admirer. Sometimes when you take a sentence out of the article it changes the meaning of the thought’. But, hell, when you publicly talk about a girl, a talented singer, and calling her fat, whatever you say further is little relevant. We even find it little relevant that the designer himself has had weight issues most of his life.  You should know better than that, Mr. Lagerfeld.
Yes, we live in the world where, you guys, dictate sizes and shapes of beauty. In a world where not many protest widely :( when a mother makes her 5 year old daughter lose weight because ‘thin’ is good, or a thirteen year old girl trades her childhood for protein shakes (to stay ‘in form’) and catwalks. But no one can take away the right of thinking our own way and being beautiful the way we are. Not even Karl Lagerfeld calling someone ‘fat’.
And us who ‘s very into fashion and style, we refuse to put people into the ‘fat’ and ‘thin’ boxes. We want to make instead one ‘people ’ box for everyone. So if you expect anorectic women ads and lets-live-without-food propaganda on our pages, you better search your luck in another blog.
