Farmer's Markets, Foodie Bicycle Tours

Please note the new additions on the sidebar. Both are bicycle tour and food related.

Eat Real Festival & East Bay Bicycle Coalition-- Oakland CA

"Pedal along Oakland's waterfront and meet local culinary artisans, learn their specialties and taste their creations. Join us as we meet local purveyors of sustainable chocolate, tea, beer and wine."

Cycletourist Rallye Over Country Roads North of Boulder Colorado
"GASTRONOMIC FEEDS Created by some of the nation’s most celebrated local chefs, the “feed” stations along the course of L’Eroica Boulder are gastronomic. Energy bars and gels are replaced with vintage refreshments of our ancestral hero’s of the road: aged cheeses, antipasto, craft breads, fruits, traditional hams and Italian wines that freely flow. "

What is the world coming too? Good Food -- combo bicycle social event ride? I am so inspired!

Do you remember this post from last year? I remember being so thrilled to learn such type rides existed. Well it's time again for the Tour d' Organics in Sebastopol, CA and also now in Portland, OR.

****
This being a food related bicycle post, then I feel it apropos to tell you I'm off to see Julie & Julia sometime this weekend!

Bikey This and That

This posting is long over due...so today here it is.

I wanted to share with you some of the wonderful finds that have come to me via my email.

First, a wonderful source for any and every Bicycle song you've never heard of and those you have. I use to keep a list of favs here on RidingPretty but RockandBike blew me away with the depth and yes wild obscurity of some of the finest Bicycle inspired music ever.

(Caroline is the Artist, 'Bicycle' is the Song via RockandBike)

I can't remember your face
But I remember your bicycle
How it took my breath away
How it took my breath away

Artist: Caroline
Song: Bicycle

Gruppo Bici Bicycle, a new Italian Bicycle distributor located in a Boulder, Colorado has a bicycle I've been eyeing...

(Atala via gruppobici.com)

If you are as charmed as I am by this bicycle let the good folks at Gruppo Bici (Michael Marsilio) know RidingPretty sent you. Perhaps one day I will actually be the owner of a NEW bicycle, which would be a first time event for me. I've been a 'second- hand Rose' and have only ever owned vintage, except for the brand new Schwinn I received for Christmas in the third grade.

(Betty Bicycle Basket Liner via Betty Basket Liners)

Betty Basket Liners...only wish I had a larger picture. This one will have to do which means you just have to go visit BettyBicycleBasketLiners for a real fine, FULL sized photo! Cute, cute I think and by all appearances very well made. Let Tara know RidingPretty sent you!

Acai Cafe and Bikes...Monterey Cruiser

New discovery in Santa Cruz...

I promise to return soon to this fabulous new cafe and bring you more photos!!

I really love the built in bike racks that seamlessly meld into the wood wall. By the way the Acai menu is out of this world, .... the acai berry will fuel you up incredibly for any bike riding you're up for.

So addicted to the smoothies here. My favorite is the 'Hero', it's a mix of berries with acai berry, black berry, blueberry. YUM!

+++++++++++++++

Free, Gratis, Libre'.... That's the sign... it's how I acquired my Monterey Cruiser. Simple, simple bicycle but an honest to goodness cruiser.

A 'beater bike' by most everyone's opinion. But how I love this bicycle!!!! 'Monterey' has a bit of a sentimental ring to it for me ...awwhhh...it's because I live next to the beautiful Monterey Bay.
So an apt name for my new 'beater' bicycle is 'Libre Monterey'.

I'm alone
on a bicycle for two."

from “Black Hole” - She & Him Volume One

Zooey Deschanel looking adorable with her bicycle. Sweet little ditty too that she wrote for "She & Him".

Le Tour du Chocolat… Bicycle your way to Heaven

This is a dream come true! I found this in the New York Times,
And here’s the excerpt:

“So, on my last visit to Paris, I took to the city’s Vélib’ bike system and mastered a two-wheeled circuit of eight of the chocolatiers that had the best reputations and most glowing reviews in city guidebooks and online message boards. It was exhilarating and exhausting, not to mention decadent. It was a chocoholic’s dream ride..”
Want to cut to the chase? Here is the interactive map and here is the downloadable map

***** Update:
Since first trailblazing with this 'Bicycle Cafes & Restaurants' category others have come after me with far greater diligence. I dropped the ball ball but look who has taken up the cause and sallied forth:

Coffee Cycle Chic ( coffee cafe listings' hub, online since January 2008)
